Job Profile

The Chief Inspector is located in Van Nuys, CA and is responsible for the overall operation of the Inspection Department and will have the final authority in approving airframes, engines, propellers, appliances and the components parts thereof for return to service. In addition, the Chief Inspector is responsible for directing, planning, and laying out the details.

Chief Inspector Responsibilities:

  • Assist, supervise, train and direct personnel assigned to the Inspection Department
  • Provide technical guidance in aircraft maintenance and inspection techniques and procedures per technical manuals, work standards and operational policies
  • Perform in-process and final inspections of aircraft
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of all aircraft maintenance records, reports and forms to ensure on-time delivery
  • Ensure that all maintenance is performed in accordance with applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, Repair Station and Quality Control Manuals, Operator/Air Carrier Manuals and safe standard practices
  • Assure that procedures used in procurement and reception of aircraft parts will guard against “unapproved” parts from entering the parts system and to ensure that any such parts are detected before their use
  • Assist in development and/or revisions of Repair Station Manuals, Training Manual, Forms and standard operating procedures to foster continuous improvement
  • Responsible for management and execution of the training program for all Repair Station Personnel
  • Maintains all Repair Station records in an organized manner in accordance with company policies and federal regulations.
  • Performs internal and external audits to identify opportunities for improvement internally and to maintain vendor qualification requirements
  • Facilitate audits of the repair station being performed by customers and regulatory authorities
  • Assure that periodic checks are made on all inspection tools and the calibration of precision test equipment used by the repair station and mechanics that have their own precision equipment. Further assure that a current record of those inspections and test is maintained

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in Part 145 corporate aircraft maintenance required. Familiarity with Gulfstream (G200, GIV, GV, G550, G650), Cessna 750, Challenger 300/600 series, Global Express and Embraer 135/145 series aircraft is preferred
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant license required, Inspection Authorization is a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Experience in working directly with FAA Inspectors
  • Above average written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.

The salary range for this position is $62-$69 per hour.
